After Kay Kirkman turned 50 a year ago, she was ready for a career change.
“I just felt a shift,” recalled Kirkman, a longtime career coach, trainer and speaker.
“I had always wanted to have my own radio show, and with podcasts becoming more and more widely known and popular, I just knew that it was time for me to make a move.”
Kirkman, an avid reader who relishes sharing positive affirmations on social media, combined her passion for optimism with a desire to help other people: Thus, “The GenX Career Show with Kay Kirkman” was born on September 9, 2020.
With a commanding yet soothing voice, Kirkman provides her listeners with sage advice on how to move beyond the fear of making a career change. “Five Questions You Must Ask Yourself Before Making a Career Change” is just one of many podcasts listeners can check out to help them figure out next steps in their careers.

Growing up in White Plains, NY, Kirkman developed a passion for television and radio broadcasting and longed to have her own show where she could interview guests about topics that tickled her fancy. After graduating from Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Communications, she worked various corporate jobs before settling in Atlanta in fall 1998.
These days, Kirkman is enjoying the success of her show, which has been lauded with many accolades, including being ranked a top show on the Apple Podcast Charts and named a top Career Podcast by Mac’s List, a job and career services website.
Her goals for the show include spreading the word that you’re never too old and it’s never too late to find passion and fulfillment at work.
